Yesterday, we reported that this upcoming sixth season of Jersey Shore would be the show’s last and now we’re getting ALL the answers!
So just why would they pull the plug now, after it has become one of MTV’s top rated series?
In a recent interview, executive VP of programming, Chris Linn revealed:
“We’ve always said we’d do the show for as long as it made sense. We noticed what was going on in their lives, with Nicole (Snooki) having her baby, the relationships, etc. it felt like the right time to bring it to a close and end on a high note.”
Valid point! Better to end on a high note than go down with a sinking ship!
While the cast had somewhat of an inkling that this would be the last season, it was only confirmed to them recently!
As for their reactions once the decision had been made?
Lin stated:
“It’s emotional. Mainly because this has been such an amazing ride for everyone involved. They were completely plucked out of anonymity and this has changed their lives in ways I don’t think any of us anticipated. It’s been a fast and exciting run, so I think there are a lot of emotions that come into play. I think it’s a bit bittersweet for all of us.”
However, don’t fret, Jersey fans! Lin promises some “very wild moments,” along with plenty of tension between both sober Sitch and Snooki and of course, more dramz from Sammi and Ron!
What about any plans to reboot the show after the sixth season, with an all-new cast??
Lin explained:
“There are no plans for that at this time. We’ve always been clear that this cast is lightning in a bottle. I don’t think this is about format, for us it’s always been about this cast.”
There would certainly be some big shoes poofs to fill! LOLz!
Well, at least we have the spin-offs to hold us over until another reality guilty pleasure comes along to win us over!
