Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak announced in his address to the country that he will not be stepping down immediately.
He did, however, promise to cede all (or most) of his power to the Vice President Omar Suleiman — although Mubarak will still retain the title of President.
Egypt├óΓé¼Γäós protesters responded with fury and are not happy at all with Mubarak├óΓé¼Γäós statements. They want him out now — not in September like he promises.
In the speech Mubarak commented that he will not take orders from foreign sources (presumably the US and other countries who have approached him).
Mubarak needs to do more than this. We understand that there needs to be order to this transition as to avoid more chaos, but the people of Egypt won’t be satisfied as long as he’s still in office!
