Ann Curry may have gotten the boot from The Today Show, but at least someone powerful feels bad about it.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt spoke to reporters about the issue on Tuesday during the Television Critics Association press conference. After emphasizing that he had no no “real involvement” with her removal, he continued:
“I will say that to be No. 1 for, I don’t know, 16 years or something, as that show has been, shows go through transitions and they’re always difficult. I think everybody in the news division, from what I could tell, took as much care as they could … to make this transition happen. It’s never easy. Things leak and you try to do things respectfully and then you have to go out and announce something you weren’t ready to announce. My heart goes out to all those people, including Ann, and everybody who went through that transition.”
Okay, it sounds like he doesn’t feel THAT bad, but at least he’s thinking of her.
We’re just glad Ann exited the show gracefully and is already using her talents to bring us the news that matters!
