The location of the Olympics might change every four years, but one thing that WON’T be changing is the channel you’ll find it on!
Not any time soon, at least!
NBC has JUST extended their partnership with the International Olympic Committee all the way to 2032, which means the network will have sole broadcasting rights for the next 9 Olympics, and that includes both the summer AND winter games!
CEO Steve Burke spoke out about the colossal deal, and released a statement saying:
“The extension of our partnership with the IOC is unprecedented in scope and is the longest US Olympic sports rights agreement in history. Our many platforms, including broadcast, cable, digital and mobile, will now have this enormously popular and profitable programming as a centerpiece for almost two more decades.”
NBC has been broadcasting the Olympics since 2000, and we guess the IOC has been pretty happy with what they’ve seen!
Hey, as long as we get to see more Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski, we have no complaints!
