Hmm, what a giant lameballz mess!
Yesterday, reports surfaced that Sharon Osbourne was quitting NBC talent competition America’s Got Talent, claiming NBC had discrimintated against son Jack Osbourne. According to Sharon, the network ‘fired’ him from a new realilty show Stars Earn Stripes after the network learned of Jack’s recently-diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis disorder.
But NBC is saying no, no, NO discrimination! The media peacock claims nothing was ever finalized and that they were only in talks with Jack about a major role on the show. NBC also alleges they offered Jack two other substantial parts on Stars Earn Stripes, which he apprently turned down.
NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt recently expressed:
“We hold medical information in strict confidence and therefore cannot comment specifically about Jack, but as a company that cares deeply about the health and safety of everyone on our shows — especially one like STARS EARN STRIPES that requires dangerous water stunts, strenuous physical activity, and uses live ammunition — we required all potential participants to undergo medical vetting to ensure that they could safely participate. Although we did not ask Jack to participate in the competition, we were able to offer him two substantial alternative roles on the show, both of which he declined. This network does not discriminate on any basis.”
Ok NBC, we’re sure Jack’s daunting diagnosis had NOTHING to do with your decision… but if it DID, perhaps you should have let Jack decide whether he was up for the task, rather than preemptively deny him a job out of concern for his health?
Ah well, hopefully this will prompt Jack (and Sharon!) to find a network they feel supports them 100%!
