Despite all of the horror and tragedy the city of Boston has endured this week, its people have continued to show their incredible resolve, unity and perseverance throughout it all!
Friday’s terrifying, extended manhunt for marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev ultimately forced the Red Sox’s game against the Kansas City Royals to be postponed until last night, when both teams banded together with the spectators to collectively pay tribute to all of the brave first responders who risked their lives to help the victims, as well as all those affected by the senseless acts of violence.
What no one was expecting, however, was Neil Diamond to hop an impromptu flight from El Lay to Boston with the specific intention of appearing at the game to perform his classic Sweet Caroline, which Boston fans are known to belt out during the seventh inning stretch!
And right before the eighth inning, that’s exactly what the iconic singer did!

As he says in a statement:
“I was humbled and honored to be in Boston and to be able to personally thank and express my gratitude to the first responders and law enforcement officers.”
And we cannot even begin to tell you much that must have meant to everyone, boo!
David Ortiz announced before the game:
“This jersey that we’re wearing today it doesn’t say ‘Red Sox.’ It says, ‘Boston.’ We want to thank you for you, Mayor Menino, Governor Patrick, the whole police department, for the great job that they did this past week. This is our f-cking city. And nobody is going to dictate our freedom. Stay strong.”
Stay strong, indeed! We are thinking of you, Beantown!
