When did this happen??
On Wednesday, Nelly Furtado stopped by ITV‘s Loose Women and revealed that she is no longer with her husband, Demacio Castellon. In fact, the Maneater singer and the sound engineer actually called it quits on their relationship during the summer of 2016.

And no one realized Miz Furtado was going through a rough patch in her marriage because the 38-year-old had taken a step back from the limelight these last few years. On her new single status, the songstress quipped:
“I am single now. Someone here needs to update my Wikipedia├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥it’s not helping my dating life!”
LOLz. Nonetheless, Nelly turned to music to help her get through her this particularly tough period. She continued:
“I went through an emotionally difficult time last summer and I actually wrote and sung myself songs to get through it. I would sing to myself while I drove on these long drives and I thought to myself, ‘I’m so lucky that I can write songs because I can soothe myself with them.'”
These long drives resulted in her sixth album, appropriately named The Ride. AH-Mazing!
While we’re certainly taken aback by this breakup news, we aren’t shocked to learn that Nelly and Demacio handle their split on the DL. In case you forgot, the couple were notoriously private as they tied the knot in July 2008, but didn’t announce the nuptials until the following October.
Although divorce is never easy, the hitmaker is trying to stay strong for her daughter with ex Jasper Gahunia, named Nevis. The Say It Right artist relayed:
“Sometimes you just want to sit home and bake some muffins for your daughter. I need to stay mentally and emotionally and physically well for my daughter.”
