Forty-nine very happy penguins were returned to the wild today, after they were rescued following an oil spill in New Zealand. What is truly remarkable about this story is the support these little guys have gotten from about the world. A call went out to animal lovers everywhere to knit these cuties sweaters that would keep the penguin’s flippers warm and and prevent them from getting poisoned by the oil.
The response was TREMENDOUS and because of so many people’s generosity, these 49 feathered friends are back home!
