Earlier today, News Corp COO Chase Carey announced that he felt “now is the right time” to place MySpace “under a new owner.”
More from Carey:
“The new MySpace has been very well received by the market and we have some very encouraging metrics, but the plan to allow MySpace to reach its full potential may be best achieved under a new owner.”
Letting ’em down easy, huh News Corp? How thoughtful of you. LOLz.
Rumors of News Corp’s plans to sell MySpace had been going on for a while now, so this doesn’t come as any major shocker.
Should be inneresting to see who snatches up MySpace. Will it be Google? Facebook? Will Friendster buy it and plan their reemergence as a social networking super power?
Hopefully it finds a good home!
MySpace may not be the #1 place to connect with friends anymore, but it’s still a damn good place to listen to streaming music!
