Nick Cannon Can't Stop Talking About Divorce Papers As He Remains Adamant Things Are All Good With Mariah Carey

Answer a couple questions about it, sure, but when you talk againand then againand then again about your divorce??
Something might be up…
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey have been separated for about 18 months now, but Nick is adamant that (a) it’s not his fault the divorce hasn’t gone through, and (b) co-parenting with Mariah is all good.

The performer spoke to Genius this weekend (just in time for Father’s Day!), and was pretty firm in his argument that the song is not about Mariah, or the divorce itself, but about… lawyers?!
Cannon said:

“I was like, ‘You want Divorce Papers? Well here you go!’ The lawyer’s line was also me releasing a little frustration at the attorneys on both sides because lawyers always think they control the clients and they cause most of the friction, especially since my ex and I get along.”

Cannon, who says co-parenting is one of the hardest parts of the divorce, was also firm in his belief that things are all good between him and Mariah — or, you know, as good as they can get considering their split and hold-up.
Then again, if the lawyers work for you, Nick, just make ’em move things along, maybe?!

Either way, with Father’s Day here, he got real about how hard it is to co-parent Monroe and Moroccan, the ex-couple’s five-year-old twins:

“There is nothing more painful than parting with or having to drop your children off. One day as my daughter was giving me a hug goodbye my eyes welled up and she looked at me and said, ‘Daddy, why do you have tears in your eyes?’ and I told her it was because I love her. She understood. She is a genius. She just hugged me harder and said I love you, too. Waterworks!”

Awww!
That part is sad. We definitely feel for the kids.
But Nick, man, just tell the lawyers you want to wrap this thing up already — after all, it sure seems like you can’t stop telling that to everybody but your lawyers!
