Nick Cannon Reveals He Never Heard Of Lupus Before He Was Diagnosed! WATCH!

Nick remembers when he was diagnosed.
It was a scary time when Nick Cannon was diagnosed with lupus.
For those of you who might not remember, in 2012 the comedian was in and out of the hospital, after suffering from mild kidney failure and blood clots in his lungs.
After a few months, he was finally diagnosed with lupus.

And while we were concerned for the actor’s health throughout the scary situation, he was even more worried because he didn’t know what lupus was before his diagnosis!
He told HuffPost Live earlier this week:

“It was super scary just because you don’t know … you’ve never heard of [lupus]. I knew nothing about it until I was diagnosed…. But to me, I’m healthier now than I’ve ever been before.”

The 35-year-old admitted he was terrified when he first learned about the autoimmune disease, but felt better knowing it’s an illness he can live with, saying:

“Especially if you’re dealing with someone who has it. When you hear the words ‘autoimmune disease’ or ‘lupus,’ it’s like, ‘Whoa, what is that?’ That’s how I felt, and that’s how my family and friends felt as well…. But you realize it’s something that you can live with and actually overcome with the proper research and with the proper support system.”

He also offered up some advice for anyone else struggling with similar symptoms, stressing the importance of knowing “proper things to eat” and taking “preventative measures” when it comes to dealing with the disease’s flare-ups.
