As Nick Reiner remains behind bars awaiting trial in the shocking murders of his father, legendary filmmaker Rob Reiner, and his mother, Michele Singer Reiner, it appears at least one close family member has continued to stand beside him through the legal nightmare.
According to a Wednesday report from Page Six, Rob’s 77-year-old sister Annie Reiner has quietly remained a source of support for her nephew despite the devastating allegations hanging over the case. Which… whoa. That is no small thing considering everything this family has endured over the past several months.

A source told the outlet that Annie has not turned her back on Nick as the criminal proceedings move forward. In fact, the insider claimed her presence has become especially meaningful during an incredibly dark chapter of his life:
“Annie has been supportive of Nick throughout the legal proceedings. Despite the circumstances surrounding the case, she has remained in his corner and her presence has meant a great deal to him.”
Wow.
Family loyalty can become incredibly complicated when a case involves allegations this serious, of course. While many people understandably focus on the criminal charges and the horrific murders, surviving relatives must somehow try to navigate unimaginable grief while facing impossible emotional decisions — and apparently, Annie is doing just that.

Also, this latest revelation comes as new concerns have now surfaced about Nick’s purported condition inside Los Angeles’ Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he has been held since his arrest last December. And to that end, according to a brand-new report in DailyMail.com, someone close to the Reiner family believes Nick has changed dramatically since entering custody.
The source claimed his appearance and mental state have worsened significantly during his time behind bars:
“He is rapidly deteriorating. No one would recognize him. He is almost bald because they have to keep his hair super short to keep the bugs out, and he is super skinny because of the intense medication he is on. His eyes are very sunken in.”
The same source painted an even more troubling picture of Nick’s current condition:
“Nick has not been well for many years, but before jail some of his personality could be recognized. Not now. He is like a babbling child, totally out of it. It’s so bad his lawyers have a hard time talking to him.”
Those are deeply concerning claims…
And now, as this heartbreaking case moves toward trial, every new development seems to underscore just how devastating the situation remains for everyone connected to the family — no matter where their support may fall.
Regardless, though, what a tough situation for all involved. Ugh.
