Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe believes that the new season of American Idol will face an interesting set of challenges since they have switched things up from past ten seasons.
Contestants will compete to create the best music video, promote themselves and work with a band and dancers for an awards show-style performance.
The producers has also eliminated the round that bring contestants down from a group of 24 to 12, and opting to go straight to the top 12.
“I didn’t think [the top 24] were very good, I was bored with them by the time they got there,” said Nigel.
Although it has not been decided whether the judges will choose the top 12 and what will replace the episodes that usually cover the early voting rounds.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
