It’s not a good time to be a punny holiday sweater!
Just a few days after Target was hit with controversy for selling an “OCD Obsessive Christmas Disorder” knit, Nordstrom has encountered the same issue with this Faux Real snarky Hanukkah sweater.

The garment in question is covered in traditional Hanukkah symbols, including dreidels, menorahs, and the Star of David, but also features the phrase “Chai Maintenance,” a play on “high maintenance,” across the top.
Many customers spoke up against the sweater, saying that it promoted negative stereotypes against Jewish women.
Nordstrom promptly pulled the top and issued an apology:
“We made a mistake by not looking more closely at the words on the sweater before we posted it ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ had we done so, we wouldn’t have offered it. As soon as we heard from customers, we removed it from our site right away. We’re terribly sorry for offending people and sincerely apologize.”
As you would expect, other customers were totally cool with the sweater and offended that Nordstrom would actually “cave” to others’ demands and remove it from stock.
Meanwhile, some people were mostly just happy that the retailer would be closed on Thanksgiving.
At least some stores care about Thanksgiving! FINALLY!!!
