What kind of values are we teaching here??
A North Carolina elementary student named Grayson Bruce is a BIG My Little Pony fan, which has resulted in him being the target of a ton of bullying. He says it’s all because of his Rainbow Dash My Little Pony lunch bag!
Grayson recently spoke out during a TV interview, and here’s some of what he has to deal with, in his own words:
“They’re taking it a little too far, with punching me, pushing me down, calling me horrible names, stuff that really shouldn’t happen.”
Wouldn’t you think the school would punish the bullies instead of the bullied student?
Apparently that’s not the case, because Buncombe County Schools officials have BANNED Grayson from using his Rainbow Dash bag! They claim that the bag itself is the source of trouble, because it is “a trigger for bullying.”
What does that even mean?? They seem to have no plans for punishing the bullies themselves — or at least making the effort in teaching them the error of their ways!
Grayson’s mom, Noreen Bruce, is NOT happy with the school’s response. She said:
“Saying a lunchbox is a trigger for bullying, is like saying a short skirt is a trigger for rape. It’s flawed logic, it doesn’t make any sense.”
We absolutely agree! It makes no sense!
Noreen has started a Facebook page to launch support for her son and his right to use whatever bag he wants, and it’s already garnered 16,000 likes!
