NYPD Cops Wrongly Accuse Shake Shack Workers Of Poisoning Their Milkshakes With Bleach!

Shake Shack employees did not poison NYPD cops!

The NYPD owes some Shake Shack employees an apology or something!

On Monday night, several of the department’s Manhattan-area cops stopped off for dinner at one of the chain’s restaurants on Broadway in the heart of the city. Upon receiving their milkshakes, the officers complained of a “funny taste” and were taken to Bellevue Hospital with concerns they’d been poisoned by a rogue employee.

The officers, who were soon thereafter released from the hospital, quickly became worried they’d been poisoned with bleach and alerted their superiors. The story went viral on Monday night, with lots of social media reaction about the alleged incident. The Shake Shack brand itself reached out with concern, too, noting they were fully complying with the investigation:

Hmmm…

The Police Benevolent Association jumped in with their concerns about the apparent incident, too. PBA President Patrick Lynch released a statement to the media about it, as well:

“At some point during their meal period, the [officers] discovered that a toxic substance, believed to be bleach, had been placed in their beverages. The contamination was not discovered until the [officers] had already ingested a portion of their beverages. They are currently at the hospital receiving treatment and are expected to recover. When New York City police officers cannot even take meal without coming under attack, it is clear that environment in which we work has deteriorated to a critical level. We cannot afford to let our guard down for even a moment.”

Wow… strongly-worded!!

Well now, thanks to that investigation, it’s been confirmed those officers were not poisoned, and no employee of the Shake Shack purposely added anything untoward in the cops’ cups. NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said as much in a statement early Tuesday morning, noting (below):

“After a thorough investigation by the NYPD’s Manhattan South investigators, it has been determined that there was no criminality by Shake Shack’s employees.”

That’s good news.

As it turns out, polices sources are telling the media it appears that whatever cleaning solution had earlier been used on the machine simply “wasn’t rinsed off enough” when it came time to make shakes for the officers — hence the bad taste. Investigators have deemed the case “unintentional,” and are apparently content to move on. For their part, Shake Shack followed up with another tweet early Tuesday morning suggesting their internal investigation into the incident had not yet been concluded:

Whew. Definitely a relief to know nobody’s out there intentionally poisoning police officers’ milkshakes with bleach! What do U think about this crazy story, Perezcious readers? Think it was just some lactose intolerance that led these guys to the hospital?? Sound OFF with your take on everything down in the comments (below)!!!
