President Obama‘s approval rating may have decreased in the public eye, but no one is as hostile toward him as the broadcast networks.
Because he is costing them $$$$$!
As news broke of the president’s plan to address a joint session of Congress regarding health care issues on primetime Wednesday, none of the Big Four networks have agreed to televise the speech live.
Definitely a change from the honeymoon period after his January inauguration!
The networks have become increasingly frustrated by the administration’s insistence for primetime coverage as it forces them to rework their schedules and costs millions of dollars in lost ad revenue.
Fox became the first network to refuse airing Obama’s April address after losing $6 million to reschedule American Idol for his second news conference in February. And it will sit it out again as it has too much at stake with the premieres of So You Think You Can Dance and Glee airing on Wednesday.
It has become such a hassle for the networks that the White House has negotiated a time change to better accommodate their viewing schedules, changing from 8pm to 9pm!
This never would have happened with George W!
Because the White House does not compromise with terrorists television networks!
