Occupy L.A. Seeking Federal Court Injunction To Stop Eviction From Campsites...And Why Twilight Is To Blame!

Uh-oh! They mean business!
And they’re bringing Twilight into the mess!
Although El Lay mayor Antonio Villaraigosa issued a deadline of eviction at midnight last night for the Occupy protestors currently camped outside of City Hall, it looks as though the group has retaliated – by seeking a federal court injunction to block their removal!
According to the complaint, the city’s anti-camping measure is up to the “whim of the police,” and want the court to address “an unconstitutional deprivation of access to a traditional public forum, the south lawn of City Hall, for First Amendment activity.”
The document continues:

“Even on Skid Row, just blocks from City Hall and around the corner from the Central LAPD station, each year families camp on the sidewalk for days to get free school supplies distributed by the Fred Jordan Mission. Each of these ‘camping’ events is highly publicized in the media, takes place in highly-trafficked areas and could not possibly be an unnoticed and unintentional exception to enforcement of the municipal code. This month, more than 1,000 people camped out to glimpse the stars at the premiere of the most recent Twilight film, forcing the closure of Chick Hearn Drive.”

Yeah. That pretty much sums it up beautifully, doesn’t it?
People can pitch up tents and camp outside of Best Buys for deals on Black Friday, but it’s cause for arrest when outside of City Hall, peacefully protesting?
America the shameful beautiful, right?
