This story makes us believe in miracles!
As we previously reported, six-time gold medalist Amy Van Dyken-Rouen got into a beyond-terrible ATV accident and completely severed her spinal cord back in June.
She was rushed to the hospital with her husband Tom Rouen by her side, but was in such bad condition, the married couple actually said their final goodbyes before she went into surgery.
That’s unbelievably heartbreaking.
Well, it looks like they (thankfully) feared the worst for nothing, because Amy has taken her first steps since her injury, after only 11 weeks since her incident!
We knew that if anyone would be able to come back from such a bad accident it would be an Olympian!
The 41-year-old even went on to the Today Show a few weeks back and promised to the country that she would walk again — and now she has. Amy still has a long road to recovery, but just seeing how positive she is as she stands with the help of a walker and some bionic legs shows that she’s up for the challenge.
