Sadly, it appears that despite his tears in the courtroom and assertion that he thought she was an intruder, Oscar Pistorius is facing mountains of evidence that he did, indeed, murder his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp early Thursday morning.
And some of that evidence has revealed that the paralympian did not only use a gun, but also a cricket bat!
According to new reports, authorities discovered the weapon covered in blood at the scene of the crime, and although there is still speculation that the 30-year-old model used it in self-defense against Pistorius, or that he perhaps used it in an effort to break down the bathroom door – where her body was ultimately found – sources close to the investigation have revealed that Steenkamp’s body did not only have gunshot wounds, but her skull was also crushed.
The insider says:
“There was lots of blood on the bat. Forensic tests will show whose blood it was.”
More damning evidence, however, comes from the double-amputee’s friend, Justin Divaris, who has revealed to the press that Pistorius called him immediately after the tragedy – before calling emergency services – and ADMITTED his guilt:
“It’s all very sad. Oscar called me at 3.55 am saying that Reeva had been shot. I said to him, ‘What are you talking about? I don’t understand you?’ He then repeated himself. ‘There has been a terrible accident, I shot Reeva. I’ve killed my baba! God take me away!’ Next thing his neighbour picked up the phone and told me it was true and told me to get to Oscar’s home. I was in total shock. I asked the neighbour, ‘Is she OK?’ Did the gun go off by accident?’ She replied, ‘No. She’s not OK. You need to get here’. By the time we got there it was already a crime scene and we weren’t allowed in the house. [Pistorius] was totally incoherent. He must have been sobbing there for a whole hour.”
Just awful.
This kind of account makes it pretty difficult to deny his responsibility, even if it’s clear that he immediately realized the gravity of his actions after he committed such an unspeakable crime.
And according to reports from the Brooklyn Police Station, where he’s being held to accommodate his needs, authorities have placed him on suicide watch while he awaits his return to the courtroom this week:
“He is absolutely devastated and struggling to deal with his emotions. He’s been given a cell to himself at the police station but there are criminals in cells around him and he doesn’t belong there. There are police concerns over his mental state.”
Sadly, we think that he’s going to have a lot more time on his hands very soon, and we sincerely hope that uses it think about his decisions and behaviors that have resulted in this tragedy, and how the consequences will leave what’s left of his life in absolute shambles.
Our thoughts go out to all of Reeva’s friends, family, and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time.
May she R.I.P.
