Padma Lakshmi Roasts 'The New Yorker' For Mistaking Her For Priyanka Chopra!

Padma Lakshmi is not Priyanka Chopra

Padma Lakshmi just grilled The New Yorker over a very unfortunate case of mistaken identity!

The India-born Top Chef host was featured in the mag as part of their celebrity cartoon takeover. Sadly, the outlet made a rather cartoonish mistake while attempting to promote the feature on its Instagram page: on the recently posted pic of the 49-year-old, they accidentally tagged actress Priyanka Chopra instead. Yes, really.

Although the Quantico alum, like Padma, is of Indian descent, the two bear little resemblance to each other — so naturally, the culinary expert was disappointed with the mag.

Before The New Yorker deleted the post, the model managed to take a screenshot and share it to her own page, writing in response:

“Thank you to the illustrious ‘@nydailynews’ for the shoutout ?. I know to some we all look alike, but ??‍♀️… #desilife #justindianthings.”

Way to let ‘em know with class, gurl!

As a woman of color, Padma has had some very frustrating experiences with magazine shoots. Back in 2016, she addressed the unnecessary Photoshop editing on her skin.

While chatting with ET at the 7th Annual Women in the World Summit, which took place right on the heels of the Adweek Photoshop scandal that seemingly altered Kerry Washington’s skin to give her a lighter complexion, Padma admitted she’s also had to deal with extra Photoshopping.

She explained:

“It happened to me actually and I was really angry about it. I like the color of my skin. It’s taken me a long time to feel comfortable with who I am and I think when you’re a brown person living in a white world, it’s especially sensitive. I also ask people not to retouch my scar, because I thought it was important for other young women to see that it’s not all perfect.”

Of course, she doesn’t loathe Photoshop completely:

“I’m not going to lie, I don’t mind when they retouch the stretch marks a little! I’m not above that, but I think there has to be a bit of good sense and gentleness about it.”

Sounds like a certain IG page could use some of that good sense…

We applaud Padma for speaking out on these issues, and doing so with, like she said, a bit of good sense and gentleness.

Thoughts, Perezcious readers??
