When you think of The X-Files, who pops into your mind? Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, right? Well, imagine if half of that iconic duo wasn’t played by Gillian Anderson or David Duchovny…
That almost happened! During a resurfaced interview from 2008 with the Sydney Morning Herald, Gillian revealed that her role of Scully was initially offered to the blonde bombshell, since Pam was already a popular name in the industry. But Anderson turned it down! The Sex Education star dished:
“Pamela was somebody who was more familiar to them in terms of what was on TV at the time. They were looking for someone bustier, taller, leggier than me. They couldn’t fathom how David and me could equal success. At the beginning, nobody trusted that I could do anything. I had no body of work behind me at all, and, certainly Fox felt very strongly that I wasn’t the right person for the job.”
WOW! That’s absolutely wild to imagine! The show surely would have had a much different vibe… Not that Pamela couldn’t have knocked playing a paranormal investigator out of the park too, but likely differently than what we got with Jillian’s portrayal!
