A California family is ‘outraged’ at United Airlines after the airline allegedly lost their 10-year-old daughter who was traveling by herself.
The little girl was on her way to summer camp, and was supposed to transfer to another flight in Chicago, but the flight attendant who was supposed to accompany her to the transferring flight never showed up.
The parents didn’t even know anything was wrong until the camp called them and mentioned their daughter never showed up.
Here’s what a friend of the mother’s said:
“When she missed the flight she asked if someone had called camp to make sure they knew and they told her ‘yes-we will take care of it’. No one did. She was sad and scared and no one helped.”
The parents then spent 18 HOURS trying to talk to someone from United Airlines, but kept having their calls directed to an outsource company in India. Finally, a helpful employee was able to track the little girl down and get her on the right flight where she showed up at the camp four hours later.
The airline “apologized” by refunding the parents’ ticket charges plus the unaccompanied minor charges.
Right, that totally makes up for the fact that they lost a little girl for 18 hours and probably scared the parents half to death.
