The backlash continues!
As we reported on Tuesday, after the trailer for Urban Myths was released, the media got its first glimpse of Joseph Fiennes playing Michael Jackson.
The comedy is partly about a somewhat-real, somewhat-fictional road trip that the King of Pop, Elizabeth Taylor (played by Stockard Channing), and Marlon Brando (played by Brian Cox) embarked on after 9/11.

Not only were fans pissed by the fact that Fiennes looks nothing like the music superstar, many thought it was inappropriate that a White actor was playing a Black man.
On Wednesday, Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson took to Twitter to denounce the controversial casting choice. When asked about the portrayal, she wrote:
@TheMJCast i’m so incredibly offended by it, as i’m sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit.

@TheMJCast it angers me to see how obviously intentional it was for them to be this insulting, not just towards my father, but my godmother liz as well

@TheMJCast where is the respect? they worked through blood sweat and tears for ages to create such profound and remarkable legacies. shameful portrayal

Additionally, Michael’s nephew Taj Jackson thought the portrayal was “blatant disrespect.”
The outrage doesn’t seem to be dying down anytime soon.
