Actual GOP Candidate Calls Parkland Shooting Survivor A 'Skinhead Lesbian' In Series Of Deleted Tweets!

no title
You probably already know Emma González.
She’s one of the survivors of last month’s shooting in Parkland, Florida. One of the teens who have bravely walked onto the national stage refusing to let the gun debate die as it always does.
Using her knack for leadership honed as the President of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s Gay-Straight Alliance, she has helped turn the fed up masses into a real movement.

A name you probably don’t know is Leslie Gibson, an NRA member and GOP candidate running unopposed for Maine’s 57th District, who decided to insult her on Twitter, writing:

“There is nothing about this skin head lesbian that impresses me and there is nothing that she has to say unless you’re a frothing at the mouth moonbat.”

He also said she wasn’t a shooting survivor because she was in a “different part of the school” and called her friend and fellow activist David Hogg a “bald faced liar.”
The tweets have since been deleted, but of course it’s the Internet where nothing is ever really gone. See the receipts (below)!

Since Gibson’s… let’s be nice and call it a lack of civility was revealed, he has since deleted his personal account and made his campaign account, @gibson_house, private. That’s the kind of courage of convictions people want in their lawmakers.
BTW, we’re sure Emma is too busy organizing the March For Our Lives on March 24 to even pay attention to this kind of ridiculousness. She did retweet:

Looks like she’s taking the high road.
Unlike Emma, we’re going to call Gibson out for the dull-witted, immature tool he is.

Trying to contain a PR disaster, Gibson later apologized to Emma, tweeting:

“I would like to extend to you my most sincere apology for how I addressed you. It was wrong and unacceptable. You are doing work that is important to you. I would like to extend my hand in friendship and understanding to you.”

According to the Portland Press Herald, however, he defended his speech by saying he swore to “uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States”:

“Because of this, I am very passionate about protecting our constitutional rights from those who seek their elimination. It was not appropriate to single out the Parkland students, but I stand firm in my defense of our constitutional rights.

Maybe if he had taken the time to actually listen to the words of any of these students, they’re not even trying to eliminate the Second Amendment — they just want common sense safety regulations like the banning of military weapons, universal background checks, and the closing of loopholes.
Guess actually discussing the points and not making ad hominem attacks against teachers is for “frothing at the mouth moonbats.” Or whatever.
BTW, in response to this behavior, local Democratic organizer Pat Fogg said she hopes someone will run against Gibson:

“I wish I knew someone who could get into this race. That sort of stupidity really turns people off.”

For real. We’re sure plenty of Emma’s fellow Parks And Recreation fans in Maine would love to vote LESLIE NOPE.
