In this case, it was Sir Patrick Stewart‘s work with Refuge and Amnesty International that gave one young woman a fighting chance.
Patrick’s speech on violence against women gave Star Trek fan Heather Skye the courage to survive her own domestic horror!
And thanks to a sci-fi convention, Heather actually got the chance to thank the X-Men: Days Of Future Past star in person! When he hugged her, Sir Patrick said:
“You never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.”
