Paul McCartney is a hardcore vegetarian, and he is now trying to push India into declaring a national Vegetarian Day as a way to celebrate meat-free living and compassion towards animals.
McCartney reportedly sent a letter to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, insisting that a vegetarian day will save animals and help protect the environment. He says “it would be a celebration of life.”
The UN estimates that 42% of India’s population is vegetarian (for both religious and financial reasons), so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to get the rest of the population on board for a day.
We think this is a great idea! The US should do it, too!!
