Another major loss for show business this year…
Penny Marshall passed away Monday from complications from diabetes. She was 75.
As one half of the title duo of hit sitcom Laverne And Shirley, Penny became a major TV star in the ’70s. The sitcom about two blue collar roommates spun off from a single appearance on brother Gary Marshall‘s Happy Days, in which she and future costar Cindy Williams stole the entire episode with their comedic rapport.
After directing a few episodes in the eight-season run, Penny eventually left television and went on to direct such beloved films as A League Of Their Own and Big — the first film directed by a woman to gross more than $100 million in the U.S. Total legend.
Sadly, the list of losses for Hollywood has been staggering this year…
