Two young siblings called the ASPCA on their 19-year-old sister after watching her viciously kill their pet hamster, Sweetie.
Apparently, the Brooklyn teen became enraged when she came home to find her own hamster, Princess Stephania, dead. She immediately accused her brother and in retaliation slammed his hamster to the ground.
Authorities say the accused, Monique Smith, then…
“attempted to pull the hamster’s whiskers out and then crush the hamster with her hand.”
Smith was ordered to jail in lieu of $1,000 bail on one count of felony animal cruelty and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
“Pets are precious to people, and unfortunately sometimes when people want to lash out, they direct their anger to a treasured pet,”
said ASPCA Assistant Director Joseph Pentangelo.
