Americans may have been having financial troubles these past few years, but that does NOT matter when it comes to their pets!
Animal lovers have spent upwards of $53 billion on food, veterinary care, kennels and other services in 2012.
Jeez louise, that’s a lot of cheese!
Those numbers are up 5% from 2011 when spending toppled the $53 billion mark and sources predict another 4% gain this year alone!
Food and vet care make up about two thirds of those numbers while alternative vet care totaled about $12.5 billion.
It just goes to show that when it comes to their pets – owners are willing to spend almost anything.
And who can blame them – those pets are just so darn cute!
