Ever wondered how much the Saturday Night Live cast members make per episode?? Well, it may surprise you… Especially considering the sky high New York rent prices!
In a New York Magazine video celebrating the sketch comedy show’s 50th anniversary, familiar faces from SNL’s past showed up to reveal what their “biggest splurge” was after receiving their first check. Many of them admitted to buying frivolous things like Gucci shoes or cashmere sweaters — but good ol’ Pete kept it real. Like, REALLY real. He told the outlet:
“My biggest indulgence after my first SNL paycheck? Do you guys know what they pay us? It’s like three grand an episode. I think I got dinner.”
OMG! That’s it?! Mind you most seasons are around 21 episodes, so that means just $63,000 a YEAR! Pete was lucky because towards the tail end of his stint on the show, he was booking movie roles… But what about the other cast members whose sole income comes from the show?? How in the world do they afford New York rent?!

Jason Sudeikis also featured in the video and doubled down on what Pete had to say:
“I mean you don’t make enough money to make big purchases. So, I think New York rent was probably the biggest purchase I made after writing my first year on SNL.”
That’s wild!
