Many have claimed that they only read the articles in Playboy and now they have their chance to prove it!
Playboy Enterprises Inc. launched The Smoking Jacket on Tuesday, a work appropriate site for those who want to read the articles on the site without the tittays.
“A lot of our audience logs on (to Playboy.com) after work and we saw that we were missing a golden opportunity to reach guys when they’re online the most: when they’re sitting at their desk, not working, sending e-mails to their friends,” said Playboy’s editorial director, Jimmy Jellinek.
Unfortunately, it will not include the long interviews or in-depth articles found in Playboy. It is mainly a humor site packed with
viral videos and harmless vintage girly pics.
“It’s all about social currency,” added Jellinek. “You want to be the first guy of your friends to send the funny joke, the crazy video … You can be the coolest guy among your friends if you’re the first person to circulate this information among them.”
Although they would be happy to just pull in 1 million unique visitors a month.
“The ideal is to be … the go-to site for those who are bored at work,” said Matt Gibbs, the lead producer of the site.
Sounds like it would make us even more tired.
