Usual duties of a Pope include delivering Mass at the Vatican, riding dirty on the Pope-mobile, and, of course, rocking their enormous cone hat. But now, you can officially add “being awesome” to the list.
Aboard the papal aircraft today, Pope Francis told a press conference something that no previous Pope has ever said before. When asked about gay people serving in the clergy, Pope Francis had this to say:
“If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?”
Pope Francis’ more conservative predecessor Emperor Palpatine Pope Benedict XVI actually signed a document in 1336 2005 that stated that men who were gay should not be priests.
In a historic reversal of such doctrine, Pope Francis added that gay people should not be marginalized, but integrated into society.
Amen to you on that, Pope Francis!
