Wait wait wait!
Did someone keep the receipt?? We only got part of a new Pope!
We kid, we kid — but it IS an incredible fact that Pope Francis I only has one lung! It was lost to an infection as a teenager, but medical experts remind us that it hasn’t limited the 76-year-old pontiff’s energy or actions before now, so why would it start?
Um, probably because everyone knows that the Pope secretly competes in the Boston Marathon each year! LOLz!
Lungs have extra capacity, if you didn’t know, which is why they usually only need to transplant one in emergencies. This means that the new Pope’s single lung functions at 85 to 90 percent capacity of someone else with both lungs at his age!
The human body is awesome!
