The Milwaukee Health Department is under some heat for their latest PSA poster.
To alarm parents of the dangers of co-sleeping, they present the image of a baby sleeping with a knife. The message is this: sleeping with your baby is just as dangerous as sleeping with a knife.
So now there’s all of this controversy. Some are saying it’s too much while others are saying parents need something as harsh as this for a wake-up call.
NBC’s Chief Medical Editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman agrees with the protestors:
Look, co-sleeping in this country leads to infant deaths. We know that parents can roll over on babies and smother them. I think this is over the top, absolutely over the top.
While advertising executive Donny Deutsch agrees with the supporters:
If it saves one baby…
We’re not sure where we lie yet. But one thing’s for sure! Don’t sleep with your baby!!!
