President Barack Obama is proposing a $500 million set of laws to create stricter limits on guns, including smaller magazines, no more armor piercing, and reinstating the assault weapons ban.
But until Congress passes those recommendations, the Prez is signing a set of executive actions that will take place immediately. He says:
“If there’s even one thing we can do to reduce this violence, if there’s even one life that can be saved, then we’ve got an obligation to try.”
The things POTUS thinks we can do include keeping guns out of unstable and criminal hands by strengthening the background check system and making schools safer by developing emergency plans and hiring more resource officers.

Barack’s most important longterm strategy is to fund investigations into the causes and prevention of violence by the CDC, including studies on the effects of violent video games! He says:
“We don’t benefit from ignorance. We don’t benefit from not knowing the science of this epidemic of violence.”
Well, we certainly agree with that. Having the facts means we don’t have to spend any more time having the debate- we can take meaningful, decisive action!
And that should be what everyone who says they care about ending gun violence really wants!
