We’re shocked there’s still unreleased photos of her after almost 50 years, but they keep emerging!

Photographs of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe have just been released that were taken only 9 months before her tragic death.

Photographer Len Steckler shot the photos in December of 1961 when Monroe arrived unexpectedly at his apartment to visit their mutual friend, Pulitzer-prize winning poet Carl Sandburg, and depict the starlet talking and laughing in pointed, thick-rimmed sunglasses.

Steckler claims Sandburg merely mentioned they would be having a vistor, and continued to say:

“Hours later I went to open the door and there I was face to face with Marilyn Monroe, and she looked more ravishing than on the screen. She said ‘I am sorry I am late. I was at the hairdressers, matching my hair to Carl’s.’ As we know, Marilyn loved older men, she loved the intellectuals — and Carl was very parental with her. It was a lovely thing to see. It was serendipitous with these two icons in their moment and me there with my camera.”

Steckler’s son recently found the negatives of the collection, which Steckler had forgotten about, and decided to print and release them for “the current generation.” The photos will range from $1,999 to $3,999.

It’s good to see her laughing and having a nice time so close to her tragic death!!
