Prince's Sister Tyka Nelson Files Docs To Become The 'Special Administrator' Of His Estate Amid News Of No Will

We can’t say we’re surprised.
According to legal docs, Prince‘s only full-blooded sister Tyka Nelson has filed to be the “special administrator” of his estate. It’s a common move when the deceased has no will or an executor of their estate.

Declaring her position as “special administrator”, Tyka stated:

“I do not know of the existence of a will and have no reason to believe that the decedent executed testamentary documents in any form.”

Well, it kinda of makes sense the legend wouldn’t have a will considering he was only 57-years-old when he passed.
If you’re wondering what a “special administrator” means, it basically allows the person to make decisions as to how the estate will be divided and managed. At this time, T.N. has listed herself and the singer’s half-siblings John, Norrine, Sharon, Alfred, and Omarr as beneficiaries. The icon also has two half-siblings who are deceased — but under Minnesotan law their family members aren’t entitled to any assets.
In an interesting turn of events, the estranged sis also went on to add in her filing:

“The decedent has heirs whose identities and addresses need to be determined.”

Hmm… what does this exactly mean? Does Prince have family members that we don’t know about?
As for who will serve as the official administrator of the estate, Ms. Nelson named Bremer Trust, National Association. Bremer has worked for the musician for years and is very knowledgeable with his financial affairs.
We’re interested to see how all of this will play out considering Tyka was estranged from her brother for a long time. We’ll keep you updated as we receive more information.
