Prince Harry‘s legal loss could turn into a financial nightmare for him!
On Tuesday, the Duke of Sussex learned he lost his phone hacking lawsuit against the publisher of DailyMail.com. It was his last major legal battle in a string of legal proceedings against various British outlets. Let’s just say, it did not end the way he’d hoped! And now, he’s out a LOT of money!
A source dished to Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Wednesday:
“This is the verdict that could change everything. Harry has spent years — and millions — trying to take on the British press. Instead of vindication, he may now be left with a staggering legal bill.”
And staggering is DEFINITELY the right word for it!

It’s estimated Harry’s out as much as $60 million (!!!) in legal fees and trial expenses. And he could be forced to pay more if he’s ordered to cover any of Associated Newspapers‘ costs — which could pull even more millions out of his bank account. Ouch!
This is on top of the already large cost he pays to maintain his family’s lifestyle, including a reported $5 million a year for private security, the upkeep of their home and staff, travel, etc. Sure, they’ve brought in a lot of money through massive media deals since leaving the royal family, but those opportunities have largely dried up these days. Another insider pointed out:
“People think Harry and Meghan [Markle] have unlimited money — they don’t. They’ve earned a fortune, but they’ve spent one too. A financial hit of this size changes the conversation overnight.”
A palace source added:
“Some people close to the situation fear this is the start of a financial downward spiral. No one is saying they’re broke tomorrow, but blockbuster paydays have slowed while the legal bills keep coming. That math eventually catches up with you.”
Dang.
And with the state of the family feud, it’s unlikely they’ll be getting any help from the royals! They better figure out a way to make some money fast!
As for who is to blame for this potential money crisis, another source said:
“Harry wanted to prove he was right. Instead, he walks away with a major legal defeat, an enormous bill, and critics convinced his war against the press has finally come at a devastating cost.”
Jeez. In their pursuit of justice, Harry and Meg always seem to pay a price…
