OMG! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are hoping to pull a “reverse Megxit”! They want out of America and back to England!
DailyMail.com‘s Alison Boshoff claimed as much on Friday, reporting:
“The Sussexes are seeking to reverse Megxit. It seems that a return to the UK is being contemplated in some form and that the couple’s holiday home in Portugal will be used as a staging post back to Britain.”
Oh, wow, plans are already well underway then!

A friend of the Duke’s also told the outlet that “there is definitely a feeling in his camp that he has started to feel a bit unwelcome in America.” They added:
“That has been an increasing and significant shift in sentiment, a feeling that the American dream might not be all that it was cracked up to be.”
While things may not have worked out the way they hoped, they did land some pretty massive — and very lucrative — business deals when they first landed in California, so maybe not the thing to be complaining about. LOLz! The friend acknowledged the couple’s “successes” and added that their “$100 million Netflix deal is not nothing.”
Interestingly, the source went on to say this isn’t one-sided. They were “told that this is coming from Meghan as well as from him,” they dished:
“I hear that Meghan is all for rekindling with and reconnecting with Harry’s English side. She is fully behind it.”
They continued:
“England is where Harry’s heart has always lain. It is no secret that they went to the States to try and seek their fortune, to try to capitalize on his fame and his royalty to some degree.”
But now that their “American dream is cooling,” the Suits alum “feels an outcast status as well.” They explained:
“She feels like she is trying to push fresh thoughts and projects but it is not easy. So maybe enough water has now passed under the bridge here for some form of a return.”
But, obviously, it will not be “a permanent or imminent return,” the journalist noted, and for now their Portugal home is more of a “stepping stone.” A source told the outlet:
“[They] had a house built in Portugal for the kids to be close to their royal side in case they want to participate. It’s in a private part, I’m not sure it’s finished yet. Meghan was having Soho House decorate it.”
A friend of Harry’s added:
“[It] is a foot on the right side of the pond and I believe that they spent time there after being in the UK last week and before it as well. It’s striking distance for them to get to London. … Harry has no desire to be Eurotrash, he is very proudly British and English and wants to be in England but Portugal could be a kind of a stepping stone for a couple of years.”
Another source speculated it’s a return to where Harry always wanted to be — closer to family, noting they didn’t “think [Prince Harry has] ever wanted to be estranged from his family.” They mused:
“I think when he was madly in love with Meghan he could be blind enough to choose her. Now things are different, and the veil is lifting.”
And the move makes sense. While he’s trying to get on better terms with his family, the outlet noted that Harry “still sees himself as a ‘working royal,'” even though he walked away from the job in 2020. His recent trip to the UK, though, was a great turning point. The couple brought their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to see King Charles III in person for the first time in four years, a source reflected:
“Harry was never going to let the kids down, they were so invested in the trip. … They FaceTime with Charles all the time, so they already have a relationship but they were so excited to finally come. It was their first proper chance to meet.”
The Archewell founder is set to return to the UK in September for another charity event, and according to Boshoff, there’s “an expectation there will be another meeting with the King, and that he will accept an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace.” Let’s just hope that invite doesn’t get revoked again!!
Harry will also return next year for the Invictus Games. Meghan is planning to come, and “if she is in the UK then they will want to bring the children too,” Harry’s friend shared.
