Real life hero!
A California Planet Fitness was lucky to have Aman Dhaliwal last week after he leapt to action to prevent a hatchet-wielding suspect from potentially wreaking havoc on a gym full of unsuspecting people. According to a statement released last week, Corona Police Department officers responded to a call from the popular gym just after 9:20 a.m. in Grand Oaks “in reference to an assault with injuries.” Apparently, a man who has since been identified as 30-year-old Ronald Chand, approached Dhaliwal, a prolific Punjabi and Bollywood action star, in the parking lot and “assaulted him with a hatchet and knife.”
The DSP Dev actor somehow managed to restrain the attacker to some degree, gaining control over the arm that carried the hatchet, but left his other arm open, which carried a sharp blade. The two eventually stumbled inside the Planet Fitness, where Chand continued to threaten Dhaliwal with the blade, while spouting to gym goers, “please respect us,” demanding water, and later claiming:
“You are taking advantage of me.”
In footage of the incident obtained by ABC 7, you can see the moment Dhaliwal took his opportunity to incapacitate the assailant after Chand took a moment to remove his hood. Fellow gym goers then stepped in to help pin Chand, before CPD arrived and arrested him. Later in the footage, you can see Dhaliwal covered in his own blood from his multiple stab wounds. See for yourself below, but be advised, the content is graphic:
Police have not released a motive for the attack, but Sergeant Jason Waldon claimed the men did not know one another prior to the attack, indicating that it was random. Dhaliwal was then taken to a nearby hospital to have his wounds treated, and is expected to make a full recovery. Chand was also taken to the hospital for a brief treatment of minor wounds, before being charged with attempted murder and placed in the Robert Presley Detention Center, where his bail was set at $1 million.
In the days since the attack, Aman has taken to Facebook to share recovery updates with fans. Last Wednesday, the model-turned-actor wrote:
“I am not able to speak much due to doctors advice so excuse me for not attending calls but I’ll reply back as soon I feel better … spread love not hate …”
The comments were quickly swarmed with messages of support, with many wishing the 41-year-old well. See (below):
See photos of his healing wounds below, but again, be advised, they are graphic:
We hope Aman continues to recover both physically and mentally from this scary assault! What are YOUR thoughts on the whole situation, Perezcious readers?? Let us know in the comments down below!
