Q & A: Dog Lost During Tornado

TeddyHilton.com reader, Heather, wrote into to Dr. Patrick Mahaney with a request for help:

This is going to sound crazy, and I’m okay with that. I’m helping to try to find Hanah a lost dog from the Joplin tornado. She was literally sucked out of the bathtub she was riding out the storm with her family in. They’re crazy trying to find her.
In this quest we have found out some crazy shit, that seems to be leading to some sort of strange dog theft ring.
I’m reaching out in hopes as a Teddy’s Father your curiosity will be peaked. We NEED help to dig into this, and you’re a sleuth. We would appreciate some support here.
Hanah’s page: HERE.

Dr. Patrick responded:
Heather,
I am sorry to hear about Hanah’s tragic loss. How awful it must be to have to endure a natural disaster and the loss of a pet simultaneously.
Does Hanah have a microchip? Even if her collar was removed during the emergency situation, a microchip will help to facilitate her return home if she is brought to a shelter or veterinary hospital.
I see you already have a posting for Hanah on PetFinder.com‘s “Lost Pet’s” section and on Craig’s List. Smart thinking!
Besides the Bring Hanah Home Facebook Page, have you used any other social media, like Twitter? Signing up for a new Twitter handle (like @HanahDogJoplin, @HanahDogMO, @HanahLostDog, other) and frequently tweeting about her will get her even more widely seen on-line. A hashtag like #BringHanahHome can be followed as a column for those searching for or who may have found Hanah. A daily tweet can keep the twittersphere abuzz about the ongoing efforts to find Hanah.
Good luck! I hope you and Hanah are reunited soon.
