Quentin Puts His $$$ To Good Use

Things seemed were pretty grim for the New Beverly Cinema and it’s proprietors, the Torgan family not too long ago. The old-time theater, built in 1929, was at risk of being turned into a Super Cuts, until a Hollywood bastard stepped in to save it.

Quentin Tarantino, having frequented the theater when he was younger, decided to buy the property after the patriarch of the family passed away, leaving the theater facing serious financial troubles. Without hesitation,Quentin bought the space outright. Quentin says:

“I always considered the New Beverly my charity — an investment I never wanted back. I already had a good relationship with the family and the theater, so it was a natural step…I can make programming suggestions when I want to. It is cool to have a theater that I can use to show what I like…As long as I’m alive, and as long as I’m rich, the New Beverly will be there, showing double features in 35mm.”

Very cool! Very save the Empire-esque!
