Ralph Lauren Gets Sued!

Ralph Lauren Gets Sued!

Ralph Lauren is being sued for his use of the word “Lifeguard” on T-shirts and Polos.

Apparently, the word is trademarked by the Lifeguard Licensing Corp., which owns the right to “label swimsuits, apparel and accessories with the word, which was first trademarked in 1937.”

The Lifeguard Licensing Corp. is demanding all proceeds from the shirts as well as all unsold tee shirts.

There is speculation that they might sue for damages, too, as the company makes claims that Polo Ralph Lauren’s use of the title “has substantially undermined Lifeguard’s lucrative license agreements,” particularly those with Popularity Products clothing company and the Warnaco Group, which distrubutes Speedo swimsuits.

Ralph should hire some better fact checkers before he mass produces tee shirts with trademarked logos.

This could have been avoided!
