Randy Travis Remains In Stable But Critical Condition, Docs Say Drugs & Alcohol NOT Responsible!

It’s been a rough week for poor Randy Travis, but we’re relieved to report he has stabilized!

The 54-year-old country icon remains in critical condition, but he IS awake and recovering in a Texas hospital!!

Doctors say his heart troubles were the cause of his initial hospitalization, but then Randy suffered a stroked while in treatment which forced him to undergo emergency neurosurgery to release pressure building up in his brain!!!

Ugh!!! That’s so scary!!!

Dr. Michael Mack, a Balyor cardiac surgeon overseeing his case, explained the chronology of events in a recent statement.

He said:

“On Sunday, July 7, [Randy] was admitted through the emergency room of Baylor McKinney hospital whereupon he was put on life support. He was then transferred here to The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano for a higher level of support. For the first 48 hours after transfer he required mechanical devices to support his circulation and his heart. His heart did respond positively to that and after a 48-hour period of time we were able to wean him from that support. During this period of time of resuscitation, he suffered a stroke. As a result of that stroke, pressure built up in his brain that required an emergency neurosurgical operation to relieve that pressure. That operation was successful and Mr. Travis has awakened…”

They’re saying the original issue was caused by a build up of scar tissue on the heart, and neither drugs nor alcohol are thought though be a culprit.

Another doctor involved with the case, Dr. Gary Erwin, spoke on where Randy will go from here.

He added:

“[Randy] will need to stay here at The Heart Hospital for another two to three weeks to stabilize his heart…. We anticipate it will take months to recover from the stroke.”

Wow!! The country music star has a long road to recovery, but we’re all wishing him the best!!!
