A Detroit rapper is suing Lyft over clear discrimination — in the form of fat-shaming.
Dank Demoss went viral after posting a video on her Instagram page earlier this month clearly showing her Lyft driver refusing her access to his vehicle because of her weight. In the interaction, he tells her:
“I’m sorry … I got no space, my car is small.”
When she told him she could, in fact, fit in the car, he responded, “No, believe me you can’t.” He went on to cancel the ride free of charge and recommended she order a “bigger car,” claiming his “tires” couldn’t handle her weight. See the full video (below):
Wow! That is fatphobia at its finest! Such a ridiculous excuse — cars are made to hold MULTIPLE people at a time!

Following the debacle, Demoss, whose real name is Dajua Blanding, filed a lawsuit through lawyers John Marko and Zach Runyan. She announced the news on IG on Tuesday. See (below):
In a video interview with Fox 2 Detroit, her legal team explained:
“I knew it was illegal and I knew it was wrong … It would be no different than a driver pulling up and saying, ‘I don’t want to have Black people in my car, or, ‘I don’t want to have Christians in my car or Muslims in my car.’ Under the law it’s the same.”
