Mobb Deep Rapper Prodigy Dead After Being Hospitalized For Sickle Cell Anemia Crisis

Prodigy, best known as one-half of Mobb Deep, has died in Las Vegas at the age of 42.
According to TMZ, the rapper, born Albert Johnson, was hospitalized a few days ago in Vegas after performing on the Art of Rap tour alongside his longtime bandmate Havoc.

Johnson’s publicist told the outlet he was taken to the hospital Saturday night “for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis,” adding:

“As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth.”

Prodigy and Havoc formed Mobb Depp in the early ‘90s. They were performing in Vegas with a lineup including Ghostface Killah, Onyx, KRS-One, and Ice-T.
Prodigy’s exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
