Meghan King Edmonds is detailing a heartbreaking story.
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum opened up about her 13-month-old son Hart‘s “irreversible brain damage” in a gut-wrenching blog post published on Thursday.

Edmonds, who gave birth to Hart and his twin brother Hayes in June 2018, looked back on her maternal instinct that gave her a heads up something was wrong:

“From the minute he was born I knew something was different with Hart. The nurses struggled to straighten his legs to measure his length. He suckled hard, shallow, and often until I bled and he spit up black.”

The 34-year-old explained in the post her struggle with Hart’s pediatrician to have additional testing done to confirm her gut feeling:

“I just knew. I told our pediatrician—she said he was fine. I begged for a neurologist referral and when I got it—he said he was fine. I then begged for a neurologist who specializes in Cerebral Palsy (I jumped through hoops to get this appointment, so many hoops) and she said he might be fine. I then begged for an MRI.”

Finally, Meghan and her husband Jim Edmonds were given a diagnosis:

“Three days later Hart’s neurologist called me.  Hart has minor Periventricular Leukomalacia on both sides of his brain (namely the white matter), but more so on his right… She told me this mainly occurs in premies and since he was not a premie (he was born at 37 weeks gestation) she believes this damage somehow occurred “a couple months before he was born.”  She explained that he is at risk for being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and will be monitored. Hart has irreversible brain damage, it’s called PVL.”

The momma of three is trying to stay positive for her family, though we can only imagine how difficult that must be right now:

“I pray for a miracle and I grapple with how to navigate his life. This is a heavy challenge as a mother: where do we go from here? This is where: one foot in front of the other.”

As we reported, this update on her son comes just weeks after the Bravolebrity spoke out publicly after stories surfaced that her husband had a “lapse in judgment” when he apparently sent explicit pictures via text message to another woman. This was all while Miz Edmonds was giving birth to their twins.
We’re thinking of Meghan and her family as they navigate Hart’s diagnosis.
