We were shocked when we heard Gretchen Rossi was the one giving Slade Smiley an engagement ring!
But don’t worry, Perezcious readers, the Real Housewives of Orange County star has a sparkler of her own.
And holy cow, what a ring!
Even though she was the one popping the question and slipping a black-gold and black-diamond band on his finger, Slade didn’t leave his lady hanging.
Or did she foot the bill??
Whoever’s bank account got the exercise, he ended up giving her a 4-carat fancy yellow diamond surrounded by smaller stones five days later!
And despite his ring coming first, Gretchen is still over the moon as she admitted:

“Life is too short, I’m in love with this man, and I needed to take the plunge!”

We must admit, it’s a damn bold move!
And we’ve got no problem with a lady stepping up to lock down her man.
We just hope we get to see her and NOT him in a wedding dress! Though honestly, if that’s what makes ’em happy we’d be fine with that too. LOLz!
