As we previously reported, the son of Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett was arrested in Santa Monica on August 2 for failing to stop at a red light.
Redmond O’Neal was subsequently charged with felony possession of heroin and being in possession of a firearm.
During his court appearance was this Wednesday morning, he pleaded no contest which landed him with a one year, in-patient rehab program as well as three years of probation.
Red’s lawyer told reporters:
Redmond is grateful for the opportunity to receive additional intensive treatment.
We’re grateful too. We hope he can find the root of his problems and heal it.
